Save Merrylee Nursery

Updates

Update from city chambers

The meeting to decide the future of Merrylee Nursery – along with the other schools across the city – is currently ongoing. No decision has yet been taken, but councillors have been told they will not have a free vote on the issue. We need a number of Labour councillors to defy the whip and vote against the proposals so that Merrylee Nursery is saved. Further updates as we receive them.

Evening Times support

The Evening Times has once again covered our campaign to Save Merrylee Nursery. Click here to read Eva Stalker's article.

Nursery visit

We would like to thank Councillor Stephen Curran for coming to Merrylee Nursery Class this morning to see for himself what a wonderful facility we share. He took time to talk to the fantastic staff and to see the great job they do and the wonderful relationship they have with the children - who could fail to be impressed? He met working parents who rely on the service and whose childcare arrangements will be thrown into turmoil if the nursery is closed jeopardising their ability to work.

DVD for councillors

The campaign group is sending a DVD featuring many of the children from Merrylee Nursery to councillors as a final reminder to them to vote against the planned merger. Please do watch this, and take its message on board, as the children featured really are our future:

Thanks once again to Alan Dickinson for filming and producing the DVD.

Busy couple of days

We've had a very productive couple of days with representatives of the forum meeting MSPs at Holyrood to discuss the proposed merger and a meeting at the City Chambers with Labour councillors. The forum would like to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to come along to the meetings and to listen to what we had to say. And a special thanks to the nursery children who drew such beautiful pictures to show councillors why they love Merrylee Nursery Class.
